TNL Mediagene Launches GIZMART to Merge Media and Commerce

TNL Mediagene debuts GIZMART, a curated media-led commerce platform, launching with Keychron’s co-developed Nape Pro trackball to blend editorial insight with product creation.

TNL Mediagene, the Nasdaq-listed Asian digital media group, announced a strategic pivot on Wednesday that aims to transform its editorial brands from passive observers of the tech industry into active participants.

The company has launched GIZMART, a curated e-commerce platform operated by its tech-focused publication, Gizmodo Japan. The initiative marks a shift toward a “media-commerce” model, where editorial authority is leveraged not only to review products but also to co-develop and sell them.

From Critics to Creators

The platform’s debut project, the Nape Pro, illustrates this new philosophy. Co-developed with Keychron, a globally recognized manufacturer of mechanical keyboards, the Nape Pro is a specialized trackball device designed to sit flush against a keyboard, allowing users to control their cursor with minimal hand movement.

The concept did not originate in a corporate R&D lab, but from the desk of Koichiro Amito, an editor at Gizmodo Japan. Mr. Amito designed the device to solve a specific ergonomic pain point for power users—engineers and creators who spend hours at a computer and want to maintain a “home position” on their keyboard.

Motoko Imada, the co-founder and president of TNL Mediagene, described the strategy as a natural evolution of the media business.

“Media brands hold deep insight into user behavior and technology trends,” Ms. Imada said in a statement. “By connecting that knowledge with product creation, we aim to help develop tools and devices that genuinely improve people’s workflows.”

A New Revenue Model

The launch comes as digital media companies worldwide grapple with volatile advertising revenues and seek more diversified business models. By entering the hardware space, TNL Mediagene is betting that the trust built by its editorial teams can translate into consumer sales.

Crowdfunding for the Nape Pro will begin on Nov. 20 exclusively through GIZMART. While the initial rollout is limited to Japan, the company stated that it plans to scale this commerce model across different product categories and eventually into international markets.

The prototype Nape Pro was first teased at the Tokyo Game Show 2025, where it reportedly received strong interest from the enthusiast community—a niche but highly lucrative demographic that TNL Mediagene is now positioning itself to serve directly.
