Domino’s Launches “the Domino,” a Pizza Made for One

Must read

The Detroit-style pizza, shaped like Domino’s own logo, is designed for diners who want their own toppings without splitting a pie.

Domino’s Pizza Inc. introduced the Domino, a Detroit-style pizza made for one person, launching nationwide Aug. 31. The company describes it as a response to modern dining habits, where diners increasingly want customization without giving up the experience of sharing a meal with others.

The Domino is made with a buttery pan dough encrusted with Parmesan cheese and baked in a rectangular pan for a crispy Detroit-style crust. It’s topped with two layers of cheese, a choice of sauce, and up to three toppings, finished with Domino’s garlic seasoning. The pizza is shaped like the brand’s logo and cut into two slices.

“The Domino fills a gap in our portfolio,” said Joe Jordan, chief operating officer and president of Domino’s U.S., and incoming CEO. “When everyone wants something different, traditional pizza falls short. The Domino lets every person build the exact pizza they want. It’s fitting that the next generation in pizza is shaped like the logo of the No. 1 pizza company in the world. The Domino is so mouthwatering that we gave it our name.”

Domino’s says the product performed well in independent consumer testing and is positioning it as a fit for occasions traditional pizza doesn’t serve well—solo lunches, late-night snacks, or family pizza nights where everyone wants something different.

Customers can order a Domino through Domino’s Mix and Match Deal, which offers any two or more menu items—including a two-topping Domino—for $6.99 each. (Prices may be higher in some locations.) Orders can be placed at dominos.com or through Domino’s mobile app.
