SAP Launches EU AI Cloud to Guard Europe’s Digital Future

SAP unveils EU AI Cloud, a full-stack sovereign platform built for Europe—uniting Cohere, Mistral, OpenAI and more to deliver compliant, flexible, multimodal AI without sacrificing data control.

SAP SE unveiled the next phase of its strategy for European digital sovereignty with the launch of the EU AI Cloud. This initiative unites SAP’s existing cloud milestones under a single, comprehensive framework: a sovereign cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) offering specifically designed for the European market.

The EU AI Cloud offers a comprehensive, full-stack sovereign cloud solution, enabling customers to select the precise level of sovereignty and deployment model tailored to their specific regulatory and operational needs. By supporting full EU data residency and sovereignty, the platform ensures that every organization can meet its unique compliance requirements.

Cohere Partnership Drives Sovereign Agentic AI

To immediately enhance the platform’s capabilities, SAP is joining forces with Cohere to deliver frontier agentic AI. Through Cohere North, this partnership extends state-of-the-art multimodal AI capabilities within the EU AI Cloud and sovereign offerings.

Cohere North will be integrated into the SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP), allowing European customers facing data residency constraints to build robust, production-ready AI into their core business processes. The collaboration aims to help enterprises unlock more profound insights, more accurate decision support, and more intelligent automation across complex workflows, all while maintaining sovereignty, compliance, and performance.

A Growing Ecosystem of Innovation

A strong and expanding ecosystem of leading European and global partners intentionally powers the EU AI Cloud. By integrating advanced AI models and applications from providers such as Cohere, Mistral AI, and OpenAI directly into SAP BTP, the cloud offers a flexible pathway for deploying and scaling AI-powered applications.

Customers can consume these partner offerings as Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), or Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), with flexible deployment options across SAP’s own infrastructure or that of trusted European partners. This collaborative approach ensures European enterprises and public sector organizations benefit from the latest innovations while maintaining strict compliance with European standards.
