FLock.io Launches FOMO to Rewire AI Economics

FLock.io introduces FOMO, a decentralised AI launchpad that rewards model creators with crypto and aims to undercut Big Tech pricing.

FLock.io, a platform for decentralised AI model development, has unveiled Flock Open Model Offering (FOMO), an industry-first launchpad designed to let anyone deploy a decentralised AI model and earn cryptocurrency when it is used.

The initiative introduces a franchise-style economic model intended to challenge the pricing dominance of traditional, centralised AI providers. By lowering the cost of deploying and consuming AI, FLock.io is positioning FOMO as a counterweight to Big Tech’s control over infrastructure and pricing.

Through FOMO, developers can integrate user-generated models directly into their applications via a simple API. The platform aims to democratise access to enterprise-grade AI infrastructure by removing the technical and financial barriers that have historically concentrated advanced model development in the hands of a few large players.

At the core of the platform is a novel economic structure built to undercut conventional cloud pricing. Rather than tying costs strictly to compute usage, FOMO employs a deflationary crypto-token buyback-and-burn mechanism. Revenue generated from model usage is automatically used to purchase and burn model-specific tokens, while users can stake those tokens to receive discounted API rates. The design encourages early adoption by allowing model creators to subsidise inference costs, ensuring that value accrues to the community as usage grows.

“We are breaking the monopoly that centralised giants hold over AI,” said Jiahao Sun, founder and chief executive of FLock.io. “The future of intelligence cannot be a black box controlled by a handful of organisations. Decentralisation keeps powerful AI accessible, transparent, and free from single-entity control.”

The launch of FOMO marks the final stage in FLock.io’s evolution into a full-cycle decentralised AI ecosystem. By linking its AI Arena for model training and FL Alliance for computational support with a demand-side marketplace, the company says it has closed the loop between supply and usage.

Since launching its mainnet in 2024, FLock.io reports rapid growth. More than 10,000 fully trained machine-learning models have been created on the platform, and over 56,000 users now hold its native FLOCK token. The company has also been named an official AI strategic partner of the United Nations Development Programme and works with organisations including Alibaba, the NHS, Aigen Sciences, CIMG Inc., and Moorfields Eye Hospital.

With FOMO, FLock.io is making a broader wager: that decentralised ownership and incentive-driven economics can reshape how AI is built, priced, and shared.
